AP2140A Amplifier
A modular amplifier adapts to your needs
Operetta's basic two-channel AP2140A amplifier is a lot more than just two channels of stunningly competent power. At its heart is a modular design that allows our customers to modify it to suit them.
legance, simplicity and attention to detail rule its design. At its core sit two power modules comprising National Semiconductors' LM3886 High-Performance Audio Power Amplifier IC. Each module produces 70 watts into 8 ohms, modest by modern standards, but like tube amps, these are sophisticated watts. More importantly, the combined attention to circuit geometry and quality components yields power with total harmonic distortion so low it left National Semiconductors' own engineers double checking their instruments.
All of this represents an elegantly radical approach to circuitry so effective as to belie numbers. The proof is in the listening: laser-like focus, precise separation, deft detail, and sweeping soundstage.
Yet simplicity also drives a remarkably modest price, value compounded by Jaton's inherent flexibility. Modular design means the basic AP 2-140 series chassis is ready, willing and wired to accommodate from two to five amp modules. Adding modules is a simple plug-and-play operation, not much more complicated than changing a light bulb. The basic two-channel stereo amp is easily expandable at any time, to four channels for bi-amping, or five channels for a full-on home theater system.
The AP2140A and AP5140A are final assembled and tested in our headquarter Fremont, California. It's clean and simple chassis is available in three finishes: black panel bordered by mirrored aluminum, silver with mirrored aluminum or simple silver.
