Jaton - Exite Your Senses

The Jaton RC2000 Operetta preamp is the latest offering from a company that has been around 25 years but is far from well-known in audiophile circles, making its early name in the realm of mass-market electronics. About 10 years ago the company took aim at the high end sector with a range of new audio products it describes as demonstrating high attention to detail, parts quality and sonics, while maintaining an affordable pricing structure. Now manufacturing amps, preamps, speakers and stands, Jaton Corporation is releasing its latest range of amps and preamps, the Operetta series,  manufactured in China though it seems at least some parts of the process involves final assembly and firmware updating here in California. Up for review  is the RC200p Operetta preamp,

During 2009, I received the Jaton Operetta 250 watt class A amp for review,  which  weighed close to 100 pounds. While reviewing the amp, I was informed that they were introducing changes to the amp , and that a “revised” version would be available sometime during 2010.

An email from Positive Feedback Online always gets my juices flowing… new gear to listen to! When I read that I was going to get a set of speakers from Jaton, the A&V-803's, I was really pumped, especially when I went to Jaton's site and saw what I was getting in for review. As always, I knew it would be a bit of a challenge for time, as I depend upon two fellow listeners for help in hoisting heavy beasties, one who is another reviewer. Asking them to get a large pair of speakers down into my basement listening room is always difficult.
